Bit of crafting

Did a bit of card making this weekend.  My sis wanted cards for very belated wedding gifts.  I had to make some that kind of  went with the gifts and not the wedding.  (too long ago)

So this is what I came up with.

And this is all you get to see as the cards have been delivered and I erased my pics!!

The pancies are from notecards.  I bought them because I just love the art of Marjoline Bastin.  I cut out the image and used it for MY cards!!  Love the colours as that is one thing I have not been successful with -- colouring my stamps!

This card was made on a whim.  I love the bird stamp and was going to do a flowery branch.  The paper lent itself to simple beauty and I left it this way.

Good night.

More Blooms

Despite the rain and clouds (or inspite of them!) things are really growing well.  Though I close my eyes and turn my back to the wind and the over-running gutters flooding my little gardens, a walk around them confirms no harm done and things growing just fine.

Bleeding Heart

I would like to spend time in my larger plot.  Haven't even dug around it yet!

Bergenia --
Destined to be thrown out this spring, but then it outdid itself!  It was so beautiful and still is, even with its' fading blooms.

Clematis
The first time this plant has bloomed for me.  The flowers are tiny, as far as clematis go, but so pretty!

Lady's Mantle

I did dig up my 2 patio plots and now know why I never do.  It took a glance through a plant book to remind me that I had a Japanese Painted Fern and it just happens to be gone!!  I didn't realize that something was still missing when I worked the soil.  Here's to hoping it shall still show itself.
Limon -- an annual and new for this year.  It was given to mom for a Mother's day gift!

Found in my sister's yard -- a robin's nest.  Every yard has one.  Not?
...And not too far off was a parent, patiently waiting for me to get out of the way.
It couldn't make much of a raucous with it's mouth full of grub!

Wishing a fine weekend for all!

Blooming Fun!

Plants are slowly but surely starting to show their colours in my backyard.  I like checking up on things;  there's something new popping up everytime I walk around the lawn.
Cushion Spurge -- gorgeous this year!

Pulmonaria
People have different names for this; my sister calls it Joseph's Coat.

Ferns -- a favourite of mine!  I love the woodland look.

Perennial Anemone -- another favourite.

I shall be going now.  There's digging to be done and lawn to be mowed!

Human Rights for Children

This slideshow showcases drawings of  some of the 'Human Rights for Children' by my students.  The assignment was part of a lesson from the Global Trek Social Studies program.

Buffleheads -- Male and female pair

These are one of the most beautiful ducks around.  They turn heads for a second glance.  The male has the white markings almost like a crest on its' head.
This picture was taken with my humble camera and I like it.  :)

Nanking Cherry Blooms

This is what I found in the orchard tonight.  The apple tree buds aren't open yet,  but they seem to be doing well this year.  Saskatoons will be bursting into bloom one of these days.   I hope I don't miss them.
